Finding a trouser that genuinely fits well is one of the most underrated victories in a man's wardrobe. Too often, off-the-peg options fall short. Either the waist is right but the leg is too slim, or the fabric looks fine on a hanger but bags and wrinkles after a few hours of wear.
At Andrew Gardner in Wendover, we have spent years selecting brands that solve exactly these problems. Three names stand out above all others: Meyer, Brax, and Hiltl. Each brings a distinct philosophy, a different heritage, and a specific fit profile. Together they cover almost every occasion and every body shape.

How to choose between the brands
Choose Meyer if...
You want the widest range of fits and the most thoughtful fabric engineering. Meyer's sizing runs very true and their Bonn, Oslo, and New York cuts cover a broad spectrum. If you find most trousers fit in the waist but are too slim in the thigh, Meyer is often the answer.
Choose Brax if...
You want something that bridges the gap between smart and casual without feeling like a compromise. Brax trousers are robustly built, easy to care for, and tend to hold their shape and colour over many seasons. The Luke and the Cadiz are wardrobe essentials for active men who still want to look sharp.
Choose Hiltl if...
Finish and craftsmanship matter to you. Hiltl trousers have a slightly more refined, European aesthetic. The construction is meticulous, the waistbands are reinforced, and the overall feel is a step closer to bespoke than most ready-to-wear. They are worth every penny.
Frequently asked questions
Are these trousers available in longer leg lengths? Yes. Meyer and Brax both offer multiple leg lengths in many of their core styles. Meyer in particular offers legs up to a 36 inch inside leg in certain cuts. Please ask in store and we will check availability across sizes and lengths for you.
Can the leg length be altered in store? We offer in-store leg shortening at no additional charge on all non-sale styles. Trousers are pinned at the time of purchase and returned to the store once altered. Turnaround is typically a 1 week.
What is the difference between a chino and a smart trouser? Chinos are cut from casual cotton or cotton-blend fabrics with a relaxed, flat-front style. Smart trousers are typically cut from wool, wool blend, or structured fabrics and have a more formal drape and finish. Many of the styles we stock sit comfortably in between. The Hiltl Pisa, for example, is a chino that is polished enough for most business casual environments.
How do I care for Meyer and Brax trousers at home? Most cotton and cotton-blend styles can be machine washed at 30 or 40 degrees on a gentle cycle. We recommend turning them inside out before washing and avoiding tumble drying where possible. Hang them while still slightly damp to reduce creasing. Wool and linen styles should be dry cleaned or some may be able to be hand washed cold. Always check the care label inside the garment.
Do you stock these brands in wider or shorter fits? Absolutely. One of the reasons we stock Meyer, Brax, and Hiltl is precisely because they offer such a thorough range of fits. Meyer's Roma and Oslo cuts are designed for a fuller seat and thigh. Brax's Cadiz is a relaxed fit with generous proportions.
Can I see current stock availability before visiting? Our best suggestion is to call us directly on 01296625488. Our team can tell you exactly what is in stock in your size and reserve styles for you to try. We receive new deliveries regularly throughout the season, so if something is not currently available it may be able to be ordered in for you and usually arrives in 5/10 days.
